I recently changed over to a electric fan for engine cooling and went to Eastern Oregon last weekend and it worked great. Couldn't be more satisfied. I found the fan, a pusher on a Infinity . Don't know the year. At U-Pull it. $35.00. bought a relay at Baxters like $6.00 . On line , rock auto, bought a thermo switch for less than $10..00.
I left the ole plastic fan in place to make sure everything would function . Placed a towel over the front of the Rad. to stop air flow and to cause the engine to over heat .
I just wanted to confirm that the switch would actually work like I wanted. Satisfied I removed the old clutch fan and shroud. Just the other day it was close to 90 and I was stuck in traffic because of construction. Had to sit at idle for a long time . Watching the temp gauge closely and seeing it crepe up ward. then heard the fan kick in and everything went back to normal. I recommend this Modification . My old Clutch fan I had found , Had several cracks in the hub. Not noticeable until I removed it to rebuild the Clutch. This was when I decided to do this. If the hub would have failed it could have cost a radiator and damaged the hood. Now the engine is quiet. The Infinity fan has a mount that I used and had only to add one simple strap ''bracket'' to mount it . Iti's not obvious and you only see it when the hood is open. I wondered if a pusher rather than a puller would do as good . . this Works Great. Now there is plenty of room for a puller fan in front of the engine. Actually I could have reversed the flow on my fan. But I like the simplicity and uncluttered look in the engine bay. If you have any questions on this modification , just contact me here.
